Around 3.5hrs from Calais this makes an ideal place to stay for your overnight B&B accommodation, if your journey is taking you further south. It is also good for weekend breaks or Self-Catering in the Gite /Cottage Accommodation, situated only 15 minutes from the A28 (j20) if approaching from Calais and the A28 (j21) from the south.
The Farm was purchased in 2004 and is situated just outside the ville of St Christophe Du Jambet, after extensive renovation work, the property now offers the traditional Chambre d’ hote charm and Gite in the Loire valley. L’Aitre Chalons has recently joined with Gites De France (G465) and has a 3 Epis standard for the Gite; we also carry the Charmance Label wih the same 3 Epis standard for the Bed & Breakfast accommodation. In both the B&B and the Gite there is WIFI and wired Internet access available, useful for keeping in contact with your family.
In front of the property there is a large garden with terracing to relax on, or have a BBQ with the family. We have games for the children, swing ball, racket nets, footballs etc.
We can also provide Table d’ hote during your stay if you prefer, (24hrs notice) we will provide the food including seasonal vegetables in the preparation of your meal.
The Bed & Breakfast accommodation is set in an idyllic and peaceful rural location where you can enjoy relaxing walks or cycling (randonnees) around the local area; if you prefer a little more adventure why not visit the Alpes Mancelles, a beautiful rocky region 15 minutes from the B&B or relax at the the man-made beach in the beautiful Forest of Sille le Guillaume with plenty of places to visit and sporting activities to fill your vacation. Escorted cross trail riding in the forest (VTT) on various levels of difficulty is available with your host, Graham, who is a MIAS qualified instructor.
The city of Le Mans is a 20 minute drive, with the world famous 24hour Le Mans racing circuit, www.lemans.org. It would be a mistake to associate the city only with its famous “24 Heures Le Mans” or the “French GP” for motorbike enthusiasts. The city has a modern feel to the centre with the new tramway system in operation whilst not losing sight of the ancient Gallo-Roman walls, one of the greatest examples in France. The crowning point is the Gothic Cathedral St-Julien.
